The purpose of this research is to perform a comparative analysis of three quality management strategies: the ISO 9001 standard, Total Quality Management and Six Sigma. The literature shows different conclusions based on what is described by the authors, some of which, mentions that there is a similarity between the strategies and all those related to reach the quality objectives of a company, even mentions a possible sequence in the implementation suggesting the ISO 9001 standard as the first step for quality management, however, some authors propose contrary conclusions. In addition, a survey was applied at manufacturing companies in Baja California for a demographic description of the ISO 9001 standard. With these proposed ideas, it is intended to clarify some unknowns related to the ISO 9001 standard, TQM and SS, emphasizing their similarities, differences and scope.
