Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Article Processing Charges or APCs

There are no article processing charges involved in the submission, review or publication of manuscrits in the journal.

Innitial Instructions

Authors are welcome to register and submit work at LAJAE. An editor evaluates all submissions to determine if they meet the objectives and scope of this journal. Those deemed suitable will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Article Types

LAJAE publishes original research articles, review articles, case studies, and technical notes in English and Spanish. Articles with the following characteristics will not be considered for publication:

  • Articles previously published in another scientific/information magazine or newspaper.
  • Articles with the use of material protected by intellectual property rights.
  • A critique of the state of the art of engineering and technology that does not contribute or innovate on the topic.
  • An article that comes from class notes.
  • Translations.
  • Articles that are offensive or violent to individuals, research groups, products, and/or services.

Previous requirements

Before submitting a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included in the submission, such as photos, documents, and data sets. All authors identified in the submission must consent to be identified as authors. Where applicable, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee according to the legal requirements of the country of the study.

Steps to register as an Author

  1. Within the LAJAE page, access the Register option
  2. Provide personal information, among other required information.
  3. LAJAE also requests the author's digital identification key (Open Researcher and Contributor ID-ORCID), which serves as a unique identifier of the author, facilitating communication and authentication from systems to systems for bibliometric purposes, and which can be activated free of charge from the page http://orcid.org

 Steps to Submit a Manuscript

Authors must submit each article through the open journal system (Open Journal System-OJS), which is incorporated into the process for submitting articles to the LAJAE journal. To submit a new manuscript, click Submit New Submission and follow the following instructions.

Before starting

*Select the primary language of the submission (English or Spanish), Enter the work title, and select the section where you will submit (Research Articles, Literature Review, Case Study, or Technical Note).

*Review the shipping checklist.

*Read the privacy and copyright notice, add comments for the editor, record them, and continue.

*Capture keywords

*Enter a summary of 300 words or less.

  1. Upload Files

*Select the manuscript in a Word file following the guidelines of the LAJAE Template, attach the files, and upload them.

  1. Collaborators

*Enter the co-authors/collaborators of the work, including their email, affiliation information, and ORCID key for each author.

  1. Comments for the editors

*Add relevant information for editors, including a cover letter.

  1. Review

*Finally, review the submitted information, ensure you have uploaded the corresponding manuscript file, and finish the process by clicking Send.

Submission confirmation

You will receive an email confirming the submission of the manuscript. If you do not receive any of the emails, please contact us at the following email address lajae.journal@uabc.edu.mx

By submitting a manuscript to the LAJAE journal, the authors and co-authors agree to the Transfer of Rights to UABC and the Copyright Notice terms.

If the article is accepted for publication, it can be edited by LAJAE to comply with the journal format, generating a “galley proof.” Authors should carefully read the galley proofs for errors in the original or that emerged in the edition.

Privacy Statement

The data collected from registered and non-registered users of this journal falls within the scope of the standard functioning of peer-reviewed journals. It includes information that makes communication possible for the editorial process; it is used to informs readers about the authorship and editing of content; it enables collecting aggregated data on readership behaviors, as well as tracking geopolitical and social elements of scholarly communication.

This journal’s editorial team uses this data to guide its work in publishing and improving this journal. Data that will assist in developing this publishing platform may be shared with its developer Public Knowledge Project in an anonymized and aggregated form, with appropriate exceptions such as article metrics. The data will not be sold by this journal or PKP nor will it be used for purposes other than those stated here. The authors published in this journal are responsible for the human subject data that figures in the research reported here.

Those involved in editing this journal seek to be compliant with industry standards for data privacy, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provision for “data subject rights” that include (a) breach notification; (b) right of access; (c) the right to be forgotten; (d) data portability; and (e) privacy by design. The GDPR also allows for the recognition of “the public interest in the availability of the data,” which has a particular saliency for those involved in maintaining, with the greatest integrity possible, the public record of scholarly publishing.
